EL PASO, Texas – The University of Hawai'i Warrior football team spent its final full day in “The Sun City,” in preparation for Saturday's Western Athletic Conference match-up with New Mexico State. The Warriors held a 45-minute workout at the Sun Bowl on the campus of Texas-El Paso.
Following last Saturday's loss at Utah State, the Warriors departed for El Paso, where they spent the entire week practicing at a local high school and at the Sun Bowl.
Kickoff for Saturday's UH-NMSU game is 2:00 p.m. MT (11:00 a.m. HT) at Aggie Memorial Stadium. The game will be televised live back to the islands on Oceanic Pay-Per-View (Digital Ch. 255). A re-broadcast of the game will be shown on KFVE-TV at 9:30 p.m. Saturday night and 10 a.m. on Sunday morning.
In addition, fans can listen to the game live on ESPN 1420 AM, beginning with the “Countdown To Kickoff” show at 9:30 a.m. Neighbor islands can listen live on KNUI on Maui, KPUA in Hilo, KMWB in Kona.
The Warriors (4-5, 3-3 WAC) will make the 45-minute drive across stateline to Las Crusces, N.M. Temperatures for Saturday's game is expected to be 65 degrees at kickoff with sunny skies.
The Warriors and Aggies (3-5, 1-3 WAC) have met four previous times with Hawai'i winning all four contests. Last season, UH routed the Aggies 50-13 behind
Colt Brennan's 425 passing yards and six touchdowns, three of which went to
Ryan Grice-Mullen, who was on the receiving end of 195 yards.
In the teams' only meeting in Las Cruces in 2006, UH scored 21 straight points in the fourth quarter to break open a close game and a 49-30 victory. In that game, Holbrook passed for 323 yards and three scores.
Hawaii has a bye next week before closing out the season with a three-game homestand beginning with Idaho, Nov. 22 at Aloha Stadium.
