Kua Tied for First at Turtle Bay Resort College Invitational

Round 2 Results

KAHUKU, O'ahu – University of Hawai'i men's golfer #T.J. Kua# is tied for first place after the first two rounds of the Turtle Bay Resort College Invitational. Following the second day of competition, Tuesday, at the Turtle Bay Resort (Palmer) Golf Course, the Warriors are tied for eighth place at five-over par (285-296=581).
 
Freshman Kua, the four-time Interscholastic League of Honolulu champion out of Kamehameha Schools-Kapalama, shot rounds of 70 and 67 for a two-round score of 137 (-7). Kua moved up 12 places from the first round to sit in tie for first along with Johan Carlsson of San Diego State.
 
Also competing for UH are senior Robert Berton (69-74=143/T17th), freshman Jared Sawada (71-81=152/T78th), senior Cody Pewarchuk (77-76=153/T81st), and sophomore Kamden Brakel (75-79=154/T89th). Participating as individuals for the Warriors are senior Chase Bingham (74-77=151/T73rd), freshman Pono Calip (79-80=159/100th), and sophomore Daniel Soglanich (80-99=179/103rd).
 
San Diego State (277-291=568), the tournament's sole team leader after the first round, now sits in a tie for first with UNLV (281-287=568) at eight-under par. The Warriors moved down one place from the first round and are currently tied for eighth along with Baylor and Mississippi State.
 
The tournament concludes on Wednesday with the third and final round beginning at 7:30 a.m. on the Fazio Course at the Turtle Bay Resort.
