WAIKOLOA, Hawai'i – The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team completed day 1 of the Waikoloa Futures, Saturday, at the Hilton Waikoloa Resort. Seven of the nine Rainbow Warriors are represented in the USTA's Pro Circuit singles and doubles tournament.

Spence Mendoza lost in straight sets to Johannes Robert Van Overbeek of the United States, 6-1, 6-0. Senior
Kevin Okasaki also dropped a 6-1, 6-0 decision to Patrick Davidson of the United States in the qualifying round of 64.
The Rainbow Warriors have three players ranked in the ITA singles rankings which came out on Sept. 4. Heinemann is ranked No. 53. Weber is No. 76 and Lajola is ranked No. 89. Lajola leads the team with a 6-2 singles record.
Eight qualifiers will advance to the 64-player main draw, beginning on Tuesday. The pro circuit tournament continues throughout the week.
