TULSA, Okla. - University of Hawai`i sophomore Dennis Lajola lost in the finals of the qualifying draw at the D'Novo/ITA All-American Championships, Wednesday, at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. 

Lajola, ranked No. 89 in the preseason ITA singles rankings, dropped a straight sets match to Wil Spencer of Texas A&M, 6-4, 6-2. The sophomore was the last remaining UH player in the draw. 

Lajola and the rest of the Rainbow Warriors will next play at the prestigious ITA West-South Regionals in Pepperdine, Calif., beginning on Thursday October 16.

 

Last year, Sascha Heinemann, Andreas Weber, Jeff Fitch, Craig Faulk, and Spence Mendoza participated in the West Regional tournament. Heinemann advanced the furthest, winning two matches in the main draw to reach the round of 16 before falling.
