WAIPAHU, O`ahu – The University of Hawai`i women's soccer team played its annual alumnae game Saturday night at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium, which turned out to be enjoyable for the fans and players.

The game ended in a 2-2 tie in front of over 700 fans, which came out to see the current Rainbow Wahine team take on former UH players, including U.S. Olympic gold medalist Natasha Kai.

“It was a great atmosphere tonight and it's always good to see the former players,” Head Coach Pinsoom Tenzing said. “I thought it was a well played game and I hope the fans enjoyed it.”

After a scoreless first half, both teams lit up the scoreboard in the second half. The alumnae scored the first two goals in the second half, before the current team answered with the final two goals of the game.

Joelle Sugai, who holds the record for most matches started in a career, scored the first goal of the match. Sugai took a touch pass from Kai and scored from the left side of the box. Adria Campbell scored the second goal of the game in the 58th minute on a nice crossing pass from Missie Moore.

The current team fought back with two goals, the first coming from Rachel Domingo, who took a pass from Kelli-Anne Chang and scored in the 60th minute.

The game tying goal came from Kelsie Look, who scored from the left side of the box in the 85th minute. The two teams ended in a tie after regulation, with no overtimes being played.

For the current team, the alumnae match was a chance for the younger players to get some game experience.

The former players that played Saturday night included Jolie Nitta, Krisha Kai, Shawn Higa, Emily Rose, Joelle Sugai, Tia Medeiros, Tiffany Tan, Tiffany Makue, Erin Chow, Adria Campbell, Leila Wai, Jessica Domingo, Natasha Kai, Missie Moore, Amanda Paterson, Krystalynn Hokulani Ontai, Carmel Hurley and Erin Schremser.

The current UH team returns to action Friday, Oct. 10 when it takes on Nevada in Reno for its first WAC game.
