MALIBU, Calif. - University of Hawai'i sophomore Dennis Lajola fell in the semifinals of the Wilson/Intercollegiate Tennis Association West-South Region Championships, Monday, at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center.
 
Lajola, seeded No. 13, won four matches in the prestigious tournament before losing to ninth-seeded and No. 65 ranked Omar Altmann of Pepperdine, 6-2, 6-2. The sophomore, ranked No. 89 in the ITA preseason singles rankings, is now 6-2 on the fall season.
 
Eight singles players and four doubles team represented UH in the tournament. The five-day individual singles and doubles tournament included players from 11 West Region teams. 
 
Lajola and the rest of the Rainbow Warriors will next play in the USTA Waikaloa Futures tournament, beginning on Saturday, Nov. 8.
