BOISE, Idaho - The University of Hawai`i men's tennis team fell in the Western Athletic Conference Tennis Championship semifinals for the second straight year with a 4-0 loss to second seed Fresno State Saturday morning at the Boise Appleton Tennis Center. The Rainbow Warriors, seeded sixth, conclude the 2007 season at 8-11, while the 72nd ranked Bulldogs improved to 13-9.

The Rainbow Warriors looked to avenge last year's 4-0 semifinal loss to the Bulldogs, but fell short once again. Second-seeded Fresno State won two doubles matches at the No. 1 and No. 2 courts to clinch the doubles point. In singles play, the Bulldogs won three consecutive matches at the No. 3, 4, and 5 positions in straight sets to clinch the victory. Senior Derrick Lajola dropped a 6-2, 6-2 match to Tejesvi Veerepalli at the No. 5 court, while fellow senior Chad Faulk also played his final career match, falling to Mirko Zapletal, 6-1, 6-0 ant the No. 3 position.

The season, however, may not be over for a couple of Rainbow Warriors. No. 54 Andreas Weber (15-2) and No. 80 Sascha Heinemann (13-3) are UH's two ranked players and await Wednesday's announcement of the singles draw of the 2007 NCAA Individual Championships.
