LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Renzo Maggi's three-set victory over the University of Hawai`i's
Jeff Fitch gave Loyola Marymount a 4-3 dual match victory, Monday afternoon, at the LMU Tennis Center. The Rainbow Warriors dropped their fifth consecutive match and saw their overall record fall to 4-10.
The Lions (6-11) won all three doubles matches to take the early 1-0 lead. In singles play, LMU extended its lead to 3-1 with wins by Nick Perez over UH's Spence Mendoza at No. 6 and Jacek Twarowski over Derrick Lajola at No. 3.
However, the 'Bows answered back as Sascha Heinemann closed out a 6-3, 7-6 victory over Sam Tadevosian at No. 2 and Chad Faulk rallied past Matt Phillips, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 4. With the team score tied at 3-3, the focus turned to court five where Fitch and Maggi traded 7-5 decisions in the first two sets. But Maggi pulled out the win, 6-2, in the third and gave the Lions just their third win over UH in 26 matches.
