HONOLULU - The final day of the Rainbow Wahine Invitational featured singles wins by University of Hawai'i women's tennis seniors,
Chloe Bihag and
Julia Sandborn, Saturday, at the UH Tennis Complex.
The five-team singles and doubles tournament featured players from Tulsa, UC Irvine, Cal State Northridge, Hawai`i Pacific, and host UH.
In doubles play, UH lost both matches. The duo of Bihag and sophomore Sophie Kobuch lost a hard fought 8-4 decision to Tulsa's Alexandra Kichoutkin and Carla Zabaleta.
The Rainbow Wahine rebounded in singles play as Bihag and Sandborn won their matches. Bihag upended Whitney Palluch of Cal State Northridge in the second set tie-breaker, 6-1, 7-6. Sandborn outlasted Tulsa's Julie Westfall in a long, exciting three-set match, 1-6, 6-3, 6-3.
The Rainbow Wahine will next be traveling to the Wilson/ITA Western Regionals beginning on October 18.
