UH Women's Tennis Fall To Wyoming, 4-3

HONOLULU - The Hawai`i women's tennis team were competitive in a 4-3 loss to Wyoming, Friday, at the UH Tennis Complex. The Rainbow Wahine (0-13-1) swept the three doubles matches and won at singles courts three and five.

The teams played the six singles matches first and the Cowgirls captured the first four to secure the team victory. At No. 2, UW's Patricia Chien clinched the victory by erasing one set point in the second frame for a 6-2, 7-6 (6) victory over Chloe Bihag. The Rainbow Wahine rallied with wins at No. 3, where Erin Katayama downed Jamie Nelson, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 and at No. 5, where Samanta Cappella held off Amy Senko, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.

In doubles competition, the duo of Kana Aikawa and Jacqui Williams rallied from a 6-1 deficit and won the final seven games for an 8-6 victory at court two. Katayama and sophomore Julia Sandborn defeated Andrea House and Karolina Rowinski, 8-6 at No. 1 and Bihag and Florence Wasko rallied for a 9-7 win over Chien and Nelson, 9-7 at No. 3.

The Rainbow Wahine will next host No. 54 Texas Tech on Saturday. Match time is 3:00 p.m. at the UH Tennis Complex.
