WSU Pulls Rank On UH Under The Lights

HONOLULU - After a four-hour rain delay, the No. 71 Washington State Cougars defeated the Hawai`i women's tennis team, 6-0, Tuesday, at the UH Tennis Complex. Originally scheduled for a 3:00 p.m. start, inclement weather forced the match to be played under the lights.

Because of persistent rain throughout the day, the teams decided to play the six singles matches first. The Cougars won each in straight sets, including a two-and-a half hour thriller between UH's Erin Katayama and WSU's Aleksandra Cekic at No. 3. Down set point in the second set, Cekic pulled out a 6-3, 7-6 (3) victory.

The teams did not play doubles.

The Rainbow Wahine (0-11) will complete their dual match against Portland, Wednesday morning, before their originally scheduled contest against Oklahoma State at 3:00 p.m.
