BOISE, Idaho - University of Hawai'i sophomore
Annett Wichmann broke the school record in the pentathlon, scoring 3,741 points to capture the silver medal on the second day of the Western Athletic Conference Indoor Championship, Thursday, at Jackson Track.
In the process, Wichmann broke all five of the individual school event records. She finished first in the shot put (45-10), third in the high jump (5-5), fifth in the 60m hurdles (9.23) and 800m run (2:31.65), and eighth in the long jump (17-1.5).
Lacey Hulbert of Utah State earned gold, posting 3,914 points.
Fellow newcomer Mallory Gilbert finished seventh, giving the Rainbow Wahine 10 team points heading into the first full day of competition. Also competing was freshman Emily Sheppard, who finished 14th overall.
UH is trying to break its best team score at the WAC Championship of 34 points set last year.
