Rainbow Wahine Tennis Fall to Wolf Pack, 6-1

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - University of Hawai`i women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Western Athletic Conference opponent Nevada, Thursday, at the Northridge Tennis Center. The Rainbow Wahine fall 0-9 on the 2006 season.

The Wolf Pack earned the doubles point by winning two of three matches. The Rainbow Wahine took the No. 2 doubles. Junior Kana Aikawa and sophomore Chloe Bihag defeated Myriam Bouchlaka and Audrey Bardot, 8-3.

In singles play, the Wolf Pack won five of six matches to earn the victory. The lone Hawai`i victory came from freshman Erin Katayama. Katayama earned a tough three set victory over Fiorella Velez at the No. 3 position, 1-6, 6-1, 6-4. UH almost earned another victory at the No. 2 court. Aikawa lost a heartbreaker to Kristen Davenport in the third set super tie-breaker, 3-6, 6-4, 1-0(5).

The Rainbow Wahine complete their six-match road trip Friday, Feb. 24 against UC Riverside (1-5), at the Student Recreation Center Tennis Courts. Last year, Hawai`i defeated the Highlanders, 4-3.
