Rainbow Wahine Drop 5-2 Decision To Cal State Fullerton

FULLERTON, Calif. - The University of Hawai`i women's tennis team dropped the fourth match of its current six-match road trip to Cal State Fullerton, 5-2, Wednesday, at the Titan Courts. The Rainbow Wahine fall to 0-8 on the 2006 season.

The Rainbow Wahine got off to a slow start by losing all three matches and the doubles point to the Titans (2-8).

In singles play, Hawai`i won two of six matches. Freshman Erin Katayama and junior Samanta Cappella earned their first dual match victories of the 2006 season. At the No. 3 position, Katayama came from behind to beat Mai-Ly Tran 0-6, 6-2, 6-1, and Cappella rallied to defeat Cheyeene Inglis in the third set super tie-breaker, 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (11). Junior Kana Aikawa lost a heartbreaker in the third set super tie-breaker to Ruya Inalpulat at the No. 2 court, 6-7, 6-2, 1-0 (5).

The Rainbow Wahine continue its road trip Thursday, Feb. 23 against Nevada (3-4) at the Northridge Tennis Complex. Hawai`i is 10-4 all time against the Wolfpack.
