LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The University of Hawai`i women's tennis team took on Loyola Marymount in the second match of its current six-match road trip, Sunday, at the LMU Tennis Center. The Rainbow Wahine (0-6) put up a valiant fight against the Lions, but fell 6-1.
The Lions earned the doubles point by sweeping all three matches. At the No. 2 court, freshman Erin Katayama and sophomore Julia Sandborn lost a heartbreaker against Erin Ivey and Maja Sundac, 8-6 and at the No. 3 position, the duo of sophomore Chloe Bihag and junior Florence Wasko were defeated in a tight match, 8-5 to Patrycia Hubl and Sladjana Kos.
In singles play, the Rainbow Wahine lost five of six matches. The lone victory came at the No. 2 position. In an exciting, close match, Bihag earned her first singles dual match victory of the season by defeating Robyn Baker in the third set super tie breaker, 6-4, 2-6, 1-0(5).
The Rainbow Wahine will continue their six-match road trip Monday, Feb. 20 against Cal State Northridge.
