Emily Sheppard broke one school record and set two personal bests for the Hawai'i women's indoor track and field team, Sunday, at the UW Open #3, at the University of Washington's Dempsey Indoor.
The Vancouver, British Columbia native, set a new school mark in the high jump with a leap of 1.70m (5-7) to finish first. Two weekends ago, Sheppard set a new UH indoor standard in the event with a leap of 1.66m (5-5.25).
Finishing behind her was teammate Mallory Gilbert, who jumped 1.65m (5-5).
In addition, Sheppard had a huge personal best in the long jump, leaping 5.51m (18-1) to also finish first in the event.
The Rainbow Wahine also took the top two spots in the shot put. Newcomer Annett Wichmann threw 13.66m (44-9.75), edging sophomore Meghan Weaver (13.56m, 44-7.75).
In all, UH athletes set 12 new personal bests and had 11 marks which place in the school's Top 10 indoor performance list.
The Rainbow Wahine will host the fourth of nine Sunset Meets, Saturday, Feb. 18, at Cooke Field before heading to the Western Athletic Conference Championship in two weeks.
