SEATTLE - The Hawai'i women's indoor track and field team set three school records and 13 personal best marks at the Husky Classic, Saturday, at Dempsey Indoor on the campus of the University of Washington. The Rainbow Wahine continue its road trip in Seattle with the UW Open #3 on Sunday.
Senior Novelle Murray smashed the school record in the weight toss, which she previously held, with a heave of 18.88m (61-11.25), nearly eight feet better than her old mark of 56-1. Her mark was the top throw in the Western Athletic Conference this season.
Junior Patricia Gauthier leaped 3.81m (12-5) in the pole vault, breaking her own school mark set last year by three inches. Her jump was the third best in the WAC this year.
Newcomer Michel Wilson eclipsed her own school record in the 5000m, clocking in at 18:48.62. Two weeks ago, Wilson became the first Rainbow Wahine to run the event.
Other notable Rainbow Wahine performances was Nicole Awaa in the weight toss (12.15m, 39-10.25), Chantelle Laan in the mile (5:03.52), and Jessica Trujillo (3.36m, 11-0.25)and Tiara Krismunando (3.36m, 11-0.25) in the pole vault.
