Boise State Rallies Past Hawai`i, 3-2

Box Score

BOISE, Idaho - Boise State scored three unanswered goals to notch a 3-2 come-from-behind win over Hawai`i Sunday afternoon at Boas Soccer Complex. The Rainbow Wahine (7-6-2, 1-1 WAC) concluded its 10-day road trip with a 1-3 mark and have dropped four of its last five matches.

The Broncos (6-5-1, 1-1 WAC) snapped a five-match losing streak to the Rainbow Wahine. Boise State last defeated Hawai`i in the team's first-ever conference meeting in Boise in 2001. It was a tale of two halves as the Rainbow Wahine dominated the first frame. UH went up 2-0 less than 27 minutes into the match and had a 15-5 shot advantage at the break. Boise State goalkeeper Kim Parker kept the Broncos in the match with seven saves in the first period, including a number from point-blank range.

Nursing a 2-1 halftime lead, UH managed just one shot in the second half, while the Broncos made the most out of its opportunities, scoring twice on three shots in the second half. Brennan Lau scored the game-winner in the 75 minute, just two minutes after the Broncos equalized.

UH got on the board first in the 19th minute off the left foot of Ambree Ako. Jessica Domingo's pass deflected off a Boise State defender and Ako collected the ball in the box before sending a line-drive just inside the far post for her fourth goal of the year and her second goal in as many matches.

The Rainbow Wahine struck again six minutes later when Taryn Fukuroku dropped a ball to Domingo who sent a rocket from 25 yards out over the reach of Parker.

The Broncos responded in the 33rd minute by beating UH's offside trap. Annie Tom got behind the Rainbow Wahine backline and facing a one-on-one with out-coming UH goalkeeper Kori Lu sent a low shot from 30 yards out. The ball hit the right post, but Tom followed up her own shot with an open-net goal.

The Broncos second goal was similar to the first with a through ball to Kristin Hall who finished with a low far post shot past Lu. Lau completed the comeback minutes later when she eluded a pair of Rainbow Wahine defenders near the top of the box and ripped a right-footer to the left side of the goal.

The Rainbow Wahine return home for its final three homes matches of the year, starting with a meeting against Louisiana Tech on Friday, Oct. 13. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m.
