RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The Hawai'i women's tennis team defeated UC Riverside, 4-3, Wednesday, at the Student Recreation Tennis Complex. The Rainbow Wahine (3-7) earned the doubles point and split the six singles matches to earn their first victory on their current four-match road trip.

In doubles play, UH rallied to win the Nos. 1 and 3 courts to take an early 1-0 team lead. Hawai'i's top doubles team of Lauren Fitzgerald and Sylvia Jaros partnered for an 8-4 victory over Casey Cross and H.R. Espiritu. UH's No. 3 team of Kimberly Curtis and Chloe Bihag outlasted Catrisha Cabanilla and Colette Chau, 8-5.

At the No. 1 singles court, Fitzgerald swept Michelle Beyronneau, 6-2, 6-1, for her second singles victory since achieving a No. 75 national ranking last week. UH also won the Nos. 5 and 6 courts as Curtis defeated Eri Yoshimoto, 6-4, 6-1, and Kana Aikawa posted a 6-4, 6-0 win over Kristina Kim.

The Rainbow Wahine opened the trip with a 7-0 loss at No. 49 San Diego. UH continues with matches against Furman, March 3 and Cal State Fullerton, March 5.
