NAMPA, Idaho - The Hawai'i women's track and field team broke two school records on Day 3 of the Western Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships at Jackson's Track in the Idaho Sports Center.
Freshman Meghan Weaver posted UH's best finish of the day, placing fourth in the shot put. Weaver broke her own school record with a toss of 13.99m in the finals to gain five team points. Earlier this season in Seattle, Weaver set the school record with a toss of 13.55m.
Junior Novelle Murray, the two-time WAC outdoor champion in the discus, also competed in the shot put finals but did not place.
Junior Tasha Monroe finished fifth in the long jump totaling four team points. Monroe advanced to the finals, where she jumped a school-record 5.80m, besting her previous record of 5.51 she set earlier this season.
Sophomore Kelly Young advanced to Saturday's 800m final after qualifying with a time of 2:12.89, the third fastest time of the day.
SMU leads the women's division with 39 total points, followed by Fresno State (27) and Utah State (21).
The WAC Championships continue through the weekend.
