UH Women's Tennis Fall to San Francisco, 6-1

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The Hawai'i women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to San Francisco, Friday afternoon, at Golden Gate Park. The Rainbow Wahine (1-5) dropped the second match of their current five-match road trip.

The Dons captured the doubles point by winning all three matches, including an 8-6 decision by Camille Pamart and Joana Macedo over UH's top doubles team of Lauren Fitzgerald and Paige Mainor.

In singles play, rain caused a 25-minute delay. Fitzgerald, ranked No. 96 nationally, was affected the most by the weather after leading 6-0, 5-3 in her match against Pamart at the No. 1 court. Following the delay, Pamart rallied by taking the second set 7-5 and finished off the match with a 6-1 victory in the third.

"Most of the matches were really close," head coach Carolyn Katayama said. "The rain delay caused Lauren the match and it was really hard for her to pick her game back up."

Sophomore Sylvia Jaros chalked up Hawai`i's lone victory with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Megan Tiegs at No. 2. Senior Paige Mainor extended her match with Megan Tiegs to a third set before falling, 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 in a closely contested match.

The Rainbow Wahine continue their road trip at Sacramento State on Sunday. First serve is set for 2:00 p.m. PST at the Rio Del Oro Racquet Club.
