HONOLULU - Freshman
Erin Katayama, the lone Hawai`i women's tennis player left in the Rainbow Wahine Invitational, lost in her Flight B quarterfinal match. Due to inclement weather on Friday, the Rainbow Wahine Invitational was moved from the UH Tennis Complex to the Central Oahu Regional Park.
Katayama dropped a 6-1, 6-0 decision to fourth-seeded Sisse Nielsen of San Diego State.
In other tournament action, Flight A Singles quarterfinal winners included BYU-Hawai`i's Julia Ustyuzhanina, Tetyana Bula, and Jing Jing Liu and San Diego State's Dita Hauerlandova. In Flight B Singles, quarterfinal winners included BYUH's Petra Teller, Arizona's Camelia Todorova, and San Diego State's Tina Razloznik.
In the Flight A semifinals, Ustyuzhanina and Liu both won by default while Razloznik defeated Todorova, 6-3, 6-1 in the only completed Flight B match. The match between Teller and Nielsen did not finish. Their match will be completed on Saturday.
The tournament concludes on Saturday with the Flight A & B singles and doubles championship matches.
