SAN DIEGO, Calif. - No Hawai`i women's tennis players remain in the Wilson/ITA West Region Championships Main Draw after two doubles teams were eliminated, Friday. However, two Rainbow Wahine are still competing in the singles consolation bracket, as newcomer Fenja Shaw and junior Kana Aikawa advanced to the Round of 16.

Earlier in the day, the team of sophomore Chloe Bihag and junior Jacqui Williams dropped their Main Draw Round of 32 doubles match to UC Irvine's Bela Mijic and Clare Fermin, 8-1. Also Aikawa and junior Samanta Cappella lost to the fourth-seeded team of Pepperdine's Bianca Dulgheru and Eva Dickes, 8-3.

After all seven Rainbow Wahine failed to advance further in the Singles Main Draw yesterday, five of them competed in the consolation bracket on Friday. Shaw defeated Cal State Fullerton's Ashley Dunbar, 6-2, 6-2, in the Round of 32 after receiving a first round bye. Aikawa won both of her matches, holding off Loyola Marymount's Tamara Tanner, 6-2, 1-6, 6-1, and San Diego's Sophia Vogt, 7-5, 6-0.

Bihag and sophomore Julia Sandborn also received first round byes but lost their respective Round of 32 matches to UNLV's Linda Tempelfelde, 6-2, 6-2, and UC Riverside's Casey Cross, 6-1, 6-0. Freshman Erin Katayama dropped her consolation Round of 64 match to Long Beach State's Emmanuelle Tabatruong, 6-3, 6-3, the same opponent Cappella defeated in the Main Draw Round of 128 on Friday.

Action continues on Saturday as Shaw and Aikawa look to advance further in the singles consolation bracket.
