LOMPOC, Calif.— The University of Hawaii men’s golf team moved up two spots to finish in 13th place at the Bite/Pacific Coast Intercollegiate. Hawaii shot a final round 300 to finish with a total of 917 (+53) at the 7,105-yard LaPurisima Golf Course.
Senior James Beston proved to be the top Warrior firing a final day two-over 74 and finishing in a tie for 39th with a total 229 (+13). Matt Kodama, who struggled in the first two rounds, shot a sizzling three-under 69 on the final day to finish in a tie for 50th with a total 231, along with freshman Pierre-Henri Soero. Also participating for the Warriors were freshman Cody Wolfenbarger (238, +22), and junior Manarii Gauthier (243, +27).
UC Davis won the team championship by three strokes over UC Riverside with a three-round total of 881 (+17). Travis Bertoni of Cal Poly captured the individual title with a three-under 213 to edge New Mexico State’s Brian Thornburg by one stroke.
The Warriors next travel to Utah to participate in the Ping Cougar Classic hosted by Brigham Young, April 23-24.
