HONOLULU - The Hawai'i men's tennis team swept all six singles matches and took two of three doubles contests against NCAA Division III Gustavus Adolphus, 7-0, Friday afternoon, in a match moved to the UH Tennis Complex.

The Rainbow Warriors (2-9) were originally scheduled to make their season debut at the new Central Oahu Tennis Complex, but due to a scheduling mix-up, the match was moved to the Manoa campus, where the courts are due to undergo major reconstruction.

The Gusties, ranked No. 3 in Division III, nearly pulled off the upset in the opening doubles matches. GVU took the No. 2 court as Loren Collins and Ben Lundell topped Derrick Lajola and Bryon Weinberg, 8-3. The Rainbow Warriors rallied with a victory at No. 3, as Burke Marold and Jarrod Diepraam outlasted Kyle Anderson and Roy Bryan, 9-7. In the deciding match, Dalibor Ptak and Ryan Sceats pulled out a 9-8 victory over Brett Morse-Karzen and Adam Morgan, 9-8, including a 7-4 win in the tiebreaker.

With a 1-0 team lead, the Rainbow Warriors cruised in singles competition, winning all six matches in straight sets. Ptak defeated Collins, 6-2, 6-2 for his sixth consecutive victory, at the No.1 court while Sceats improved to 8-3 on the year with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Morgan.

The Rainbow Warriors take the next month off before returning to the court against Saint Louis, March 8.
