WAHIAWA--The University of Hawai`i Warrior golf team played their best round of golf on the final day of the John Burns Intercollegiate to finish in 17th place. UH shot a three-under par 285 in the final round to finish with a three-day total of 878 at the 6,917 yard Leilehua Golf Course.
Senior Matt Kodama led the way for UH as he tied for 17th after playing three consistent rounds of golf. Kodama shot a one-under par 71 in the final round and finished with a three-day total of 211, five-under par. Senior James Beston shot a two-under par 70 in round three and finished 221, which tied him for 68th. Junior Kellen-Floyd Asao also played his best golf on the final day as he posted a 71. Also competing on the UH "A" team were junior Manarii Gauthier (225, T88) and freshman Geoffrey Stevens (227, T97).
The UH "B" team finished in 22nd place with a three-day total of 915. Competing on the "B" team were freshmen golfers Pierre-Henri Soero (215, T41) and Cody Wolfenbarger (227, T97), sophomore Jordan Belton (236, 111), freshman Scot Miller (239, 113), and junior Ben Douglas (249, 115). Junior golfer Adam Walker competed as an individual and had a three-round total of 224, which tied him for 82nd.
Arizona won the John Burns Intercollegiate after a stellar round three where they moved ahead of New Mexico and UNLV after shooting an eight-under par 276 to finish with 833. New Mexico's Spencer Levin held-off a late charge by Colorado State's Nolan Martin and California's Peter Tomasulo to win the individual title by posting a three-day total of 201, 15-under par.
The Warriors will be competing next at the 58th Western Intercollegiate, hosted by San Jose State on March 22 and 23.
