WAHIAWA--The University of Hawai`i men's golf team moved up the standings into a tie for 19th after the second round of the John Burns Intercollegiate at the Leilehua Golf Course. UH shot 296, one stroke better than its first round score, and have a two-day total of 593 (+17).
Senior Matt Kodama shot a two-under 70 and moved up nine place into a tie for 14th with a four-under 140 . Also golfing for Hawai`i's are freshman Geoffrey Stevens (151, T95), senior James Beston (151, T95), junior Manarii Gauthier (152, T101), and junior Kellen-Floyd Asao (159, 111).
The UH "B" team is still sitting in 22nd place after round two with a total of 606. Competing on the "B" team are sophomore Pierre-Henri Soero (141, T19) and Jordan Belton (156, T108), freshman golfers Cody Wolfenbarger (150, T89) and Scot Miller (161, T113), and junior Ben Douglas (163, 115). UH junior golfer Adam Walker is competing as an individual and has a two-round total of 149 to move up to a tie for 81st.
New Mexico remains in first place with a two-day total of 555. The Lobos hold a one-stroke edge over UNLV. New Mexico's Spencer Levin shot a six-under 65 to take sole possession on the individual leaderboard. Levin's two-round total of 132 is a stroke better than Henry Liaw of Arizona. The final round begins tomorrow at 7:30 a.m.
