Rainbow Wahine Drop First Road Match of the Season

TULSA, Okla.--The University of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine soccer team suffered its first road loss of the season with in a 1-0 decision at Oral Roberts in a non-conference match Monday night. The Rainbow Wahine who were undefeated in five road matches this season (4-0-1), dropped to 7-3-1 overall.

On a rainy evening, Golden Eagle (5-4-1) sophomore midfielder Jessica Kellogg scored the winning goal in the 85th minute on a feed from fellow sophomore midfielder Heather Hall. The golden goal sailed past UH goalie Mahie Atay. Atay, who had posted consecutive shutouts in UH's last two wins at Tulsa and Rice, entered the scoreless game in the second half after junior Erin Chow made her second start of the year.

Hawaii played the match without its leading scorer, sophomore Natasha Kai, who suffered a sprained ankle in Sunday's win at Tulsa. Oral Roberts out-shot the Rainbow Wahine 22-12 and also had seven corner kicks to UH's three. Golden Eagle goalkeeper Kellie Fenton had six saves on the night, while registering her fourth shutout of the season.

The Rainbow Wahine return home for a pair of home matches this weekend. UH faces defending WAC champions SMU, Friday October 3 at 7 p.m. and plays UTEP, Sunday October 5 at 5 p.m. Both matches will be at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium.
