Warriors Fall to UC Irvine in Quarterfinals, 5-2

IRVINE, Calif. – The Hawai'i men's tennis team suffered a 5-2 loss to No. 72 UC Irvine, Friday, in the quarterfinals of the Anteater Classic at Anteater Tennis Stadium. The Warriors (11-10) next face West Virginia, Saturday, for the right to play in the fifth place match.

Senior Francisco Brignole had his six-match win streak snapped in the No. 5 court, falling to Peter Surapol, 6-4, 0-6, 7-5, which clinched the victory for the Anteaters. Senior Reginaldo Moralejo posted his team-leading 16th victory after a 6-2, 6-1 sweep of Greg Biorkman in No. 4 singles. Senior Malino Oda snapped a personal two-match skid with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Zoran Korac in the No. 2 court.

The Anteaters won two of the three doubles contests to take an early 1-0 lead. UH’s only victory in doubles was at No.1 where, Oda and Justin Menolascino defeated Brian Morton and Jonathan Endrikat, 8-6.
