Honolulu --The Hawai`i men's tennis team suffered a 6-1 loss to Hawai`i Pacific University, Monday at the University of Hawai`i Tennis Complex. Despite a strong effort the Warriors dropped to a 6-7 record this season.
Although the No. 3 doubles team of Reginaldo Moralejo and Francisco Brignole provided a tough challenge, HPU's Jaross and Koprivica pulled a 9-8 win over the Warriors. The Sea Warriors captured the doubles point with a sweep of all three doubles matches.
On the singles side, the Warriors won a single match. Justin Menolascino captured the only victory for Hawai`i in the No. 1 spot. After dropping the first set 2-6, Menolascino rallied back in the last two sets, 7-5, 7-5 to win the match. In a close decision, Francisco Brignole pushed his match to split sets before dropping the third, 6-1.
Next up for the Warriors is a March 10 match against Marquette University.
