SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Hawai'i men's tennis team pulled out a 4-3 victory over Sacramento State, Sunday, at the Rio Del Oro Racquet Club. The Warriors improved to 3-4 after a 7-2 victory over Sonoma State, Saturday.
The Warriors dropped two of the three doubles matches to fall into a 0-1 hole. Justin Menolascino and Malino Oda teamed up to win the No.1 doubles spot over Anders Albertson and Jakub Silva, 8-2. In the No. 3 position, Reginaldo Moralejo and Francisco Brignole suffered an 8-6 loss against Julien Chatelan and Lewis Van Splunteren. The deciding point was at No. 2, where Matt Jones and Peter Farkas rallied from 7-5 down to upset UH's Jarrod Diepraam and Ryan Sceats, 9-7.
Hawai'i proved its dominance in singles play where UH won the No. 1, No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 positions. Oda led the way, easily defeating Chatelan, 6-1, 6-4. Moralejo, Sceats, and Diepraam each won their matches in straight sets.
Next up for the Warriors, who are on a seven-match road swing, is Saint Mary's, Monday.
