HONOLULU – The No. 2 University of Hawai`i Rainbow Wahine (15-1, 3-0 WAC) used a somewhat balanced attack to sweep through the Nevada Wolf Pack (8-9, 2-2 WAC) 30-20, 30-18 and 30-25 in front of a crowd of 8,529 at the Stan Sheriff Center Saturday. The sweep ran UH's game-winning streak up to 19 games, while the win was the Rainbow Wahine's 14th straight overall and 68th straight in WAC play.

Maja Gustin picked up six kills on the night, becoming just the 14th player in UH history to join the 1,000-career kill club. Kim Willoughby led the way for Hawai`i with 17 kills and a .438 hitting percentage. Kanoe Kamana`o had a team-high 16 digs and 33 assists while adding a couple of kills and a couple of aces. Lily Kahumoku and Lauren Duggins added 10 and nine kills, respectively, while Nohealani Tano put away five kills on just seven attempts for a .714 hitting percentage in two games played. Melissa Villaroman ended the night with 12 digs in the back row.

Nevada went up early on the Rainbow Wahine, taking a 6-5 lead in game one. But UH roared back, going on a 5-1 run to take a 10-7 advantage. Hawai`i would hold a 15-11 lead at the media timeout before taking another big 10-2 run to go up 26-16. The Wolf Pack would reel off a few points to make it interesting before the Rainbow Wahine closed out the first game, 30-20.

Hawai`i would take it to Nevada in game two, going up 19-9 early. The Wolf Pack would score three straight points to cut the deficit to 20-13, before pulling even closer at 22-17. But that just seemed to ignite the Rainbow Wahine attack, as they reeled off an 8-2 run to take game two 30-18. UH hit .444 in the game to UNR's .094.

Gustin picked up the monumental 1,000th kill early in game three, putting UH up 6-5. Nevada was able to tie the game at eight before UH ran off four straight points to go up 12-8. The Wolf Pack would keep the difference around four points until Hawai`i pulled away, taking a 26-18 lead, forcing Nevada to use its last timeout. The Rainbow Wahine held game point at 29-20, but the Wolf Pack wouldn't give in, scoring five straight points before a service error gave UH the 30-25 game three victory.

The Rainbow Wahine will now head on the road for two WAC matches, at Boise State on Thursday, Oct. 9, and at UTEP on Saturday, Oct. 11.
