LAKESIDE, Calif.-
Matt Kodama continues his solid play for University of Hawaii Warrior men's golf team, finishing in a tie for third place after the first round of the Barona Collegiate Cup hosted by San Diego State. The senior carded a four-under 68 and is three strokes off the pace in the 54 hole-tournament.
The field was unable to finish the second round because of darkness and will conclude the second 18-holes and finish with the final round on Tuesday.
Kodama shot a sizzling 33 in the front nine and a 35 in the back nine. The rest of Kodama's teammates, however, did not fare as well in the first 18 holes. UH stands in a tie for 14th place in the 18-team field, after shooting a nine-over 297 at the 7,088-yard Barona Creek Golf Course. Also competing for the Warriors are James Beston (75, +3), Adam Walker (76, +4), Geoffrey Stevens (78, +6) and Pierre-Henri Soero (78, +6).
Colorado State leads the tournament by three strokes with a 15-under 273. Chris Cousins of UAB is the individual leader with a seven-under 65.
