POCATELLO, Idaho--Hawaii won its fourth match in a row with a 2-0 win over Idaho State in a non-conference match Monday afternoon. The Rainbow Wahine, improved to 11-4-1 overall in winning their school-record seventh road match of the season.
Once again it was Natasha Kai who provided the offense as she scored the golden goal in the 38th minute of the first half. Kai, who did not start the match, lofted a ball in the upper left corner of the goal to tally her 22nd scoring strike of the year and give UH a 1-0 lead. It was the eighth straight goal Kai has scored for UH and her sixth of the three-match road swing. She has now scored a goal in the last six matches she has played in.
Natasha's younger sister Krisha Kai got into the act in the 54th minute of the second half by adding an insurance goal. After Kimi Tiampo fired a shot that was saved by the Bengals (4-7-1), the freshman forward one-timed the rebound in the back of the net for her second goal of the season.
Hawaii out-shot Idaho State 21-6 as the Bengals lost for the sixth straight time. The Rainbow Wahine finished their regular season road schedule with a 7-1-1 mark, their best-ever. The Rainbow Wahine need just one more win to tie the school-record for overall victories (12) in a season, set in 1999.
Hawaii returns home to finish up the regular-season WAC schedule with matches versus Fresno State (Friday, 7 p.m.) and San Jose State (Sunday, 5 p.m.). UH is currently in second place in the WAC with a 5-1 record.
