SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA - After dropping the doubles point to Cal Poly to open Monday's match, the University of Hawai`i men's tennis team rallied back to take five of the six singles matches to push them over the Mustangs in a 5-2 win at the Cal Poly tennis courts. The Warriors improve to 13-7 overall.
The Mustangs came out in force by winning the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches, but Warriors Lincoln Leeder and Malino Oda rejected any sweep Cal Poly had in mind by defeating Davey Jones and Greg Levy, 8-3, in the No. 1 position.
In singles action, the Mustangs pushed the Warriors to a pair of three-set matches in singles play but that wasn't enough as Hawai`i took the No. 1 through 5 positions.
Leading the Warriors was Reginaldo Moralejo, who won 6-4, 6-3 over Cal Poly's Jones at No.1 while Justin Menolascino (UH) also needed only two sets to close the match, 6-3, 7-5, against Stacy Meronoff (Cal Poly).
