The University of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine tennis team took the court against No. 55 Arkansas, but the Lady Razorbacks proved to be a too much for the young Wahine team as they out did Hawaii, 5-2, Friday at the UH Tennis Complex.
The Razorbacks got a quick 1-0 lead as the swept all three of the doubles matches. Hawaii’s Lauren Fitzgerald and Stacy Hakikawa rally with Arkansas Anna Dybicz and Megan Ferreira but the Razorbacks would edge the ‘Bows, 8-6.
With the Rainbows down going into the singles competition of the match, Fitzgerald would get a quick point to tie the score at one a piece as Arkansas’ Simona Arghire retired the match due to an elbow injury. But the Razorbacks would fight back taking four of the singles matches to put the game away.
However, Arkansas would overlook freshman Kimberly Curtis, who would earn another point for the ‘Bows as she controlled her match defeating Christian Kincannon, 6-3, 6-1.
The Rainbow Wahine will close March competition against Wisconsin-Green Bay Saturday at the UH Tennis Complex. Matches begin at 10:00 a.m.
