The University of Hawai`i Rainbow Wahine tennis team took the court by storm, defeating Whitman College in a 7-0 rout at the UH Tennis Complex Friday.
Hawai`i jumped into an early 1-0 lead sweeping the doubles matches and never looked back. It would be only a matter of time before Whitman would fall at the hands of the Rainbows.
In singles action, Hawai`i’s Lauren Fitzgerald, Stacy Hakikawa, and Polina Kravets would blank their Whitman opponents in two quick sets, 6-0, 6-0, marking their first shutout of the season. Freshmen Paige Mainor, Kimberly Curtis, and Lyndsey Thomas would need a little more energy to defeat their opposition but would also manage to do so in two sets.
Up next, the Rainbow Wahine will take the court on Sunday, March 17 for a doubleheader against Wisconsin-Green Bay and Marray State. Matches begin at 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., respectively.
