Warriors Whip Whitman, 7-0

The University of Hawai`i Warrior tennis team (6-5) defeated Whitman College (3-8), 7-0, Tuesday at the UH Tennis Complex. The sweep is the third for the Warriors this season and marks the fourth consecutive team victory.

Hawai`i took control from the get go taking the doubles portion of the match by storm. Leading the Warriors were the duo Lincoln Leeder and Malino Oda, defeating Whitman's Trevor Gamble and Tim Mullin in an 8-1 rout. The pair would go on to the singles portion of the match with much of the same intensity, both defeating their opponents in two sets, 6-1, 6-0.

Whitman’s only chance of avoiding a sweep came from their No. 1 position’s Tim Mullin, who was the closest to defeating Hawai`i’s Regie Moralejo. But Moralejo wouldn’t let up as he closed the match, 6-1, 6-4.

Hawai`i would cruise the rest of the way as the Warriors would close the remaining singles matches in two sets.

The Warriors hope to ride their streak over the next three days as they take on Radford, New Mexico, and Navy.
