LAHAINA, Maui - The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team dropped its dual match against nationally ranked Stanford, 7-0, Friday, at the Royal Lahaina Resort. The Warriors conclude its fall season with a 1-2 record.
The Warriors lost each of its six singles and three doubles matches in straight sets against the 10th ranked Cardinal men, which featured three Top 100 singles and the second ranked doubles tandem.
The highlight of the day for UH was in No. 1 doubles where the team of Justin Menolascino and Malino Oda went the distance against Scott Lipsky and David Martin, ranked No. 2 in the preseason ITA poll. Lipsky and Martin pulled out the marathon match, 9-8.
Oda also dropped his No. 1 singles match against the 11th ranked Martin, 6-2, 6-1. Lipsky, ranked No. 32, edged Menolascino, 6-3, 6-2 in No. 2 singles.
The Warriors open is 2003 spring schedule against Virginia, Jan. 10 at the UH Tennis Complex.
