Wahine Soccer Picks Up Road Win

Box Score

MOSCOW, Idaho—Junior midfielder Tiffany Makue scored the game-winning goal at the end of the first overtime as Hawai'i defeated Idaho, 2-1, at Guy Wicks Field. The Wahine improved to 2-0-0 on the season, while Idaho fell to 1-2-1.

The Vandals started pressuring the Rainbows defense early, taking a total of 24 shots in the game, compared to UH's 13. Idaho couldn't get the ball in the net, however, and trailed 1-0 at the half.

The first goal came in the 39th minute, when senior striker Jennifer Starsiak sent the ball past Idaho goalkeeper Tricia Haynes. She scored from the top of the box after a cross from Arlene Devitt. The Vandals stepped up in the second half when Megan Cummings put a finish to an intense scramble in front of the Rainbows' goal. Cummings scored after a shot from Emily Nelson deflected off the post.

Tied at one goal apiece in overtime, Makue scored the game-winning goal after a cross from the corner by sophomore Kalena Eaton, giving UH its second overtime win in as many matches. Wahine goalkeeper Jennifer Churchill finished with seven saves.

UH next travels to Spokane, Wash., to face the Gonzaga Bulldogs Sunday at 11 a.m. -uh-
