WAHINE FALL AT STEPHEN F. AUSTIN, 2-0

Box Score

NACOGDOCHES, Tex. - The University of Hawaii women's soccer team ended a three-match, week-long road trip with a loss against non-conference foe Stephen F. Austin, 2-0, at Homer Bryce Stadium in Nacogdoches, the oldest town in the state of Texas.

The match, which was played on the astrroturf of SFA's football stadium, was dominated by play in the midfield, as a total of just 20 shots were taken throughout the contest's 90-minutes. Hawaii outshot the Ladyjacks, 12-to-8.

SFA freshman high-scorer Kendra Cannon scored with a header off of a deflection of a corner kick at 30:45 to give the Ladyjacks the lead at the intermission.

Cannon struck again when she took advantage of a misplayed ball in the Wahine defensive third of the field to post the insurance goal late in the second half, at 86:19.

The Wahine had more than their fair share of scoring opportunities but could not capitalize. Sophomore striker Arlene Devitt was unsuccessful on a pair of breakaways, while senior Veronica Flores was unlucky on three shots from inside the SFA penalty box.

Hawaii attacking midfielder Tiffany Makue, left wing Joelle Sugai, and defenders Kristalynn Ontai and Carmel Hurley played well in the losing effort.

The Wahine continue their conference season with a pair of televised matches this weekend when they host UTEP and SMU. The UH-UTEP will be played on Friday, at 7:00 p.m. Hawaii will play SMU on Sunday, at 5:00 p.m.

Both matches will be televised live, state-wide on K5, "The Home Team."
