IRVINE, Calif. – University of Hawai'i associate men's volleyball coach Dan Fisher has been named the new women's volleyball head coach at Concordia (Calif.) University.
Fisher has served as UH's associate coach under
Charlie Wade the past two seasons. During that time, the Warriors compiled a 34-23 record and advanced to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Tournament twice, including a semifinal appearance in 2010.
Fisher takes over a Concordia program that advanced to the NAIA National Championships in six of the past seven years and has played in the semifinal round or better five times, including twice for the national championship.
“I am excited for Dan to have an opportunity to start his head coaching career, and for he and Joni to start this new chapter in their lives,” Wade said. “I want to thank Dan for his commitment to this program, and for helping us to improve over the last two seasons. I know that he is eager to succeed and I am confident that he will continue the competitive tradition at Concordia as its new head coach.”
Fisher's previous coaching experience includes associate head coach for the women's program at San Francisco, where he helped the Dons to the NCAA Tournament with the best season in school history in 2008. He also an assistant on the Pacific men's teams for three seasons.
A former Warrior setter who played his first two seasons at UH, Fisher transferred to Pacific, where finished among all-time leaders in assists and service aces. He went on to play three years with the U.S. National Team and professionally oversees for five years.
