Kelly Hee

Kelly Hee joined the University of Hawai‘i Athletics Department in August 2020.
 
Hee currently holds the position of Lead Therapist of Athletics since 2024. In her role, Hee is responsible for organizing and managing the development and implementation of the Student-Athlete Mental Health and Wellness Program (known as Rainbow Wellness).
 
Hee assists and supports student-athletes across all teams and disciplines in areas such as coping with stress, anxiety, depression or eating disorders; dealing with common mental health conditions; returning from injury; transitioning from sport; transitioning to college/Hawai‘i; as well as working with common sports psychology concerns such as performance anxiety and mental skills training.  Additionally, she is responsible for providing presentations to teams on topics such as mindfulness, focus, stress, adversity, and other “game time” mental skills.
 
Hee played Division I soccer at the University of California, Santa Barbara from 2005-08.  She was a member of California North State Youth Olympic Development Teams prior to college.  After college, she coached for soccer clubs on Maui and O‘ahu.
 
The Moraga, Calif., native earned her degree in sociology with a minor in applied psychology from the UC Santa Barbara in 2009.  She attended the UH for her master’s in social work from 2012-14.
 
Hee is a member of the Association of Social Workers in Sport (ASWIS), the Clinical Counseling and Sports Psychology Association (CCSPA), International Academy of Eating Disorder Professionals (IAEDP), and an approved and listed provider of the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) Mental Health Directory.
 
She and her husband Tyler and daughter, currently resides in Hawai‘i Kai.
