James L Buccella joined the University of Hawai‘i Athletics Department in October 2011.
Buccella currently holds the position of Computer Desktop Support. In his role, Buccella is responsible for providing quick solutions for computer and mobile media device related problems; managing a computer inventory of over 260 computers in the Athletics Department; and responsible for administrative network file sharing and network printing.
In addition, Buccella rebuilds and upgrades existing Apple and Windows based operating systems; orders and installs new computers using supported operating and antivirus software; and recycles older computers and electronic equipment.
Buccella has also served as the women’s volleyball equipment coordinator since 1995. He is the recipient of the 2013 Charlie Ushijima Rainbow Service Award and 2016 University of Hawai’i at Manoa Grace Award.
Buccella previously worked at HI-Tech Smart Systems, Inc. from 1997 to 2011.The Boston, Mass., native earned his Associates Degree in Data Processing from Massasoit Community College in Brockton, Mass., in 1985.
