Jason Kaneshiro joined the University of Hawai‘i Athletics Department in August 2023.
Kaneshiro currently holds the position of Assistant Media Relations Director and is the primary media contact for women's soccer, women's basketball, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, and water polo.
Prior to joining UH, Kaneshiro spent the previous 22 years working as a sports reporter for the Honolulu Star-Bulletin and Honolulu Star-Advertiser and was named the 2022 Hawai‘i Sportswriter of the Year by the National Sports Media Association. He is now a member of College Sports Communicators.
Kaneshiro grew up in Honolulu and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1991. He earned his degree in journalism from the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa in 1996.
He and his wife, Donica, have two sons, Branden and Adam, and currently reside in Pearl City.
