Garrett Clanin joined Student-Athlete Academic Services at the University of Hawai‘i as a Graduate Assistant in 2008. Since 2011, Clanin has held the position of Academic Advisor.
Clanin previously worked at San Diego State University as an Academic Mentor for student-athletes from 2006-08.
In 2017, Clanin received the UHM Pakela Award which recognizes an individual who demonstrated excellence and/or innovation in advising, and/or have made a significant contribution to the advising community.
Originally from Dana Point, Calif., he earned his bachelor’s degree in sociology from UC San Diego in 2004 and his MEd from University of Hawai‘i at Manoa in 2010.
Clanin is a member of NACADA and N4A.
He and his wife Aimee and their two children currently reside in Kane‘ohe.
