Frank Peña joined the University of Hawai‘i Athletics Department in August 2022.
Peña currently holds the position of Assistant Athletic Trainer since 2022 and works primarily with football and baseball.
Peña previously worked at the Children’s Health–Andrews Institute in Plano, Texas where he served as Athletic Trainer and Physician Extender from 2021-22. He also worked as lead athletic trainer at Woodward Copper in Copper Mountain, Colo., in 2021.
In addition, Peña was an athletic trainer for the freestyle ski and snowboard for the Chinese Olympic Committee from 2018-21. Prior to that, he worked for Major League Soccer’s Houston Dynamo (2016-18) and Chicago Fire (2015) and North American Soccer League’s San Antonio Scorpions (2013-15).
Peña’s first job in athletic training was at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas from 2004-15, where he worked with soccer, basketball, tennis, and baseball teams.
The Harlingen, Texas native earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Health from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2002. He went on to receive his Masters in Athletic Training from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in 2004.
Peña is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association. He currently resides in Honolulu.
