Michele “Bud” Nagamine enters her 14th season as head coach of the University of Hawai‘i women's soccer program in 2025, coming off of a 2024 season in which she led the Rainbow Wahine to a Big West regular season title. Hired in 2011 as the second head coach in program history, Nagamine has crafted a legacy at nearly every level in the Hawai‘i soccer community over her career in the sport.

Coaching Highlights
  • Captured UH's first-ever Big West regular season title in 2024.
  • One of five active Big West coaches to earn conference coach of the year honors multiple times in a career.
  • Helped UH set a school record for conference wins, finishing 8-1-1.
  • The Rainbow Wahine finished 2024 with the most points in the standings by a Big West team since 2016.
  • Led the 'Bows on a school-record nine-match unbeaten streak, highlighted by a program single-season record seven-match winning streak.
  • Coached a program-record tying seven all-conference players in 2024.
  • UH domianted the end of season Big West awards in 2024, taking home four of the six honors (Nalani Damacion – Midfielder of the Year, Kennedy Justin – Goalkeeper of the Year, Jacey Jicha – Defensive Player of the Year, Michele Nagamine – Coach of the Year).
  • Reached the 100-career win mark as a collegiate head coach with a Sept. 1, 2024 win over North Dakota State.
  • Led UH to its first-ever Big West Conference tournament bid in 2019, solidifying the No. 4 seed.
  • Guided the Rainbow Wahine back to the Big West tournament in 2023.  
  • Coached the first-ever UH player to win Big West Conference Offensive Player of the Year with Raisa Strom-Okimoto in 2018, and the first-ever UH player to win Goal Keeper of the Year in the Big West as well in 2019 with Alexis Mata.
  • Led UH to a 9-6-2 mark in 2016, including a 7-1-2 record at home.
  • Twenty-three student-athletes named to an All-Big West Team, including 36 total certificates.
  • Eight student-athletes named to NSCAA/United Soccer Coaches All-West Region Teams, including nine certificates.
  • 120 student-athletes named to Academic All-Conference teams (113 Big West, 7 WAC)
  • In 2016, led UH to its first-ever NSCAA West Region ranking, climbing to No. 4  in the polls.

  • USSF A-License 
  • Took over a three-win HPU program in 2007, and built them to a 10 win squad in 2008 during her first season. 
  • Served as head coach of Kamehameha Schools’ girl’s soccer team from 1991-2007 winning five Hawai‘i state championships and six Interscholastic League of Honolulu titles. 
  • As a high school head coach was named ILH Coach of the Year a record seven times and state Coach of the Year five times.
  • Former owner of her own marketing group as well as a soccer retail store (Soccerama).
  • Served as the Director of Sports Marketing and Sales for OUTRIGGER & ‘OHANA Hotels and Resorts from 2001-2011.
