Michelle Meyer is in her second season as an assistant coach after joining Rainbow Wahine staff in the fall of 2012. Meyer, a native of Santa Cruz, Calif., boasts nearly a decade of experience as a player and coach, both on the collegiate and professional levels.
 
Most recently Meyer served as a youth sand volleyball coach for the Main Beach Volleyball Club in Santa Cruz, teaching both technical skills and team strategy to her players. Meyer’s association with club goes back nearly 10 years, beginning with her start in the club as a player.
 
Meyer also boasts indoor coaching experience as an assistant in 2011 for Cabrillo City College in Santa Cruz. Meyer duties included recruiting and player development in defense . That season Cabrillo won the conference title and earned the top ranking in Northern California and the No. 4 ranking in the entire state.  
 
Meyer was an active professional indoor and sand volleyball player. In the winter of 2011-12 she played indoor volleyball abroad as a libero for Fortuna Odense Volleyball Club in Odense, Denmark. While there she also served as head coach for the club’s second division team.
 
Her professional career has also included the beach scene. Starting until 2006, she competed in the California Beach Association, where she was ranked AAA and 56th overall prior to her arrival in Hawai`i.
 
Meyer attended UC Santa Barbara from 2005-09. While there, she founded and played on the UC Santa Barbara women’s club volleyball team. She led the team to the Division I club volleyball national championships title in 2009 and was named the Southern Coast Conference’s MVP that year.
 
Meyer graduated from UCSB in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a double minor in sport management and athletic coaching.
