Deirdre Wisneski Head Shot 2025

Deirdre Wisneski

Associate Head Coach Dee Wisneski has been one of the core elements for the Rainbow Wahine softball program since 1997. Wisneski has risen through the ranks, starting as student-athlete playing shortstop for the Rainbow Wahine squads from 1992-95 …to a student assistant in 1996…to assistant coach for 15 seasons…and since the 2010 season, she has been the program’s first ever associate head coach. During her coaching career, she has helped to develop several of UH’s most notable infielders, including All-Americans Joyce Lum, Stacey Porter, Tyleen Tausaga, Kate Robinson, Clare Warwick, Melissa Gonzalez, and Jessica Iwata. Wisneski also oversees the team’s academic progress and success.

Wisneski played four years at shortstop for Hawai'i and helped lead the squad to a Big West title in 1994—the program's first conference crown, and the program's first two NCAA post-season appearances in 1994 and 1995. She was co-captain on both of those squads. During the 1994-95 seasons, Wisneski was penciled in at shortstop for all of Hawai'i's 132 games.

Originally from the west side of the beautiful island of Kauai, Wisneski enjoyed one of the most heralded careers ever by a Garden Island female athlete.

While a student at Waimea High School, Wisneski earned all-state and all-Kauai Interscholastic Federation honors in softball, volleyball, and basketball.

For her efforts, Wisneski was named The Honolulu Advertiser High School Female Athlete of the Year and was inducted into the prestigious Hawai'i High School Hall of Honor in 1991.

Wisneski completed her undergraduate studies in 1996 with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology. She remains active in local fast- and slow-pitch leagues and tournaments.
